Cookie Policy
Last updated: 12 August 2026
This policy explains how REBEL AF Books uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use our application. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help a site remember information about your visit, such as whether you are signed in and what preferences you have chosen. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage, which work in the same way.
2. The types we use
Strictly necessary
Required for the site and app to work. These cannot be turned off through our cookie settings. They are used for:
- signing you in and keeping your session secure (authentication session tokens);
- fraud prevention and abuse protection;
- processing payments securely (Stripe);
- keeping your writing session and unsaved draft safe in your browser.
Functional
Remember choices you make, such as reading mode, accessibility settings and interface preferences. These are stored in your browser's local storage rather than sent to us.
Analytics
With your consent, we record first-party, privacy-friendly usage events (pages viewed, features used, errors) together with a randomly generated session identifier held in your browser for the length of your visit. We use this to fix problems and improve the product. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party advertising analytics. If you decline, no analytics events are recorded.
Marketing
We do not currently use advertising or remarketing cookies. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent before any marketing cookie is placed.
3. Third-party providers
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Lovable | Application hosting, authentication, secure sessions and database infrastructure |
| Stripe | Secure payment processing and fraud prevention during checkout |
| Google Sign-In, only if you choose to sign in with Google |
These providers have their own privacy and cookie practices, set out in their own policies.
4. Managing your preferences
When you first visit, you can accept analytics or continue with necessary cookies only. You can change your choice at any time:
You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings, and set your browser to notify you before cookies are stored. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the service working, including sign-in.
5. How long they last
Session cookies and session storage are cleared when you close your browser. Persistent cookies and local storage (sign-in tokens, saved preferences, cookie choice) remain until they expire or you delete them. Sign-in tokens are refreshed regularly and are removed when you sign out.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our services, technology or legal obligations. The latest version will always be available here.
